The Story of The Songbird Society
When Jennifer Thomas (JT) and Richard Hayler met in 1992, they had no way of knowing what the future had in store.
By 2011, after years of friendship and profound life changes, their conversations turned to collaboration. It was during one of these talks that the idea for The Songbird Society took flight.
As they envisioned their next salon, they knew they wanted something different—something meaningful. They began writing down words that symbolized new beginnings, growth, and community. Over time, those words came together to form a name that resonated deeply: The Songbird Society.
Having created salons before, JT and Richard had a clear vision. They wanted a space that was inclusive, adaptable, and nurturing—a place where individuality could thrive while contributing to a greater purpose.
As JT explains:
"We knew we wanted a very inclusive environment. We also knew that, as an employer, we needed to remain nimble and receptive to the changing needs of our staff. We wanted to create a space that nurtured individuality yet contributed to a larger purpose."
For them, The Songbird Society represents fresh starts, the dawn of a new day, and the uplifting sound of birdsong that accompanies it. It’s more than a salon—it’s a community built on creativity, inclusivity, and the beauty of transformation.
